Hatomune dou (dō) (pigeon-breast chest armour or cuirass) were inspired by European peascod breastplate armour. Hatomune dou (dō) have a sharp central ridge running vertically down the front, they were made from imported Portuguese armours or from Japanese styles. They can be either smooth (single plate) construction, or laminar.
