Features of both bridles and halters can be combined in a single piece of equipment for either multiple use or for leveraging additional control, depending on design. Most often, a halter-bridle combination allows a bridled horse to be led or tied without risk of damage to the mouth from the bit. Sometimes the bridle cheekpieces can be removed, leaving only the halter/headcollar element.
