Half-tube zithers are a category in the Hornbostel-Sachs system to classify musical instruments, falling under tube zithers. The classification is 312.2. Half-tube zithers with strings made from the tube material itself (idiochords) are further classified as 312.21. If strings are made of separate materials, then the instrument is classified as 312.22.[1]
