English: The shin guntō was a weapon and badge of rank used by the Imperial Japanese Army between the years of 1935 and 1945. During most of that period, the swords were manufactured at the Toyokawa Naval Arsenal.
日本語: 軍刀（ぐんとう）とは、 軍用に供された刀剣類の総称。儀礼（儀仗）や指揮、正装や礼装時の装飾用として使用される、刃のつけられていない模擬刀身仕込みの儀礼刀・指揮刀・短剣類も軍刀に含められるが、銃剣や軍用ナイフ類は範囲には含まない。
