  • 1882 Shipyard built for the Vulcan Iron Co. of Hull on land owned by the Corporation at Grovehill
  • 1884 Wound up and let to Andrew Cochrane. Founded Cochrane, Hamilton, Cooper & Schofield
  • 1901 Cook, Welton & Gemmell – originally based in South Bridge Road in Hull – moved its operations out to Beverley.
  • 1962 The business built its last ship in Beverley
  • 1963 Went into voluntary liquidation
  • 1963.03 Purchased by Charles D. Holmes & Co, changed its name to Beverley Shipbuilding and Engineering Co.
  • 1973 Taken over by Drypool Group
  • 1975 Into liquidation
  • 1976.06 Purchased by Whitby Shipyard
  • 1976.12 Operating under the name Phoenix Shipbuilding
  • 1977.05 The business went into receivership and closed the yard
  • At this point, the site was returned to its ground landlords, then Beverley Borough Council.
