Great Stuart Street is part of the New Town of Edinburgh, one of the best surviving examples of town planning and Georgian architecture in the world. The land that Great Stuart Street was built on was owned by the 10th Earl of Moray (1771-1848). He fued the 13 acres of land for building in 1822 and the buildings in Great Stuart Street were completed in 1831. The street connects the original New Town with the second New Town.
