The inscription on this gravestone says:

• "In affectionate memory of Sarah the beloved wife of Edward Harrod of Beulah Terrace Harrogate, who departed this life October 25th 1873 aged 66 years. She was for 16 years Matron at the Harrogate Bath Hospital and her truly Christian character, her unwearied kindness and sympathy, endeared her to all who knew her. Also Edward Harrod, husband of the above, born August 3rd 1812, died October 4th 1887. Thy will be done. Also Mary, wife of the above, who died March 13th 1905 aged 87 years. He giveth His beloved sleep".

Note: The GRO index gives Sarah Harrod's age as 67 years, as do the death columns in the newspapers and the obituary by Harrogate Hospital, which both say she was matron for 17 years.
