The inscription on the gravestone says: "In memory of Henry Edwin Bown, architect of Harrogate. Born Mar 26th 1845, died Sept 27th 1881. And also of his wife Sarah Margaret Bown, born May 8th 1849, died Jan 22nd 1899. Also of their youngest son Henry Edwin Bown, 23rd Rm Royal Fusiliers, killed in action in France Jan 25th 1916 aged 33." (Henry Edwin Bown died of tuberculosis).
