Category:Gravestone of Annie Oliver and Irene Benson
The inscription on this monument is: "In loving memory of our dear daughters: Annie Elizabeth Oliver nee Benson died 26 May 1926 aged 24, also Irene Mary Benson died (5?) July 1932 aged 15. Ever in our thoughts. Also Ada Alice Benson, beloved mother of the above, fell asleep 24 June 1951 aged 72. The Lord is my helper."
Below the gravestone is a plaque whose inscription is now partly illegible. It originally said, "Treasured memories of Pilot Officer L.B. Benson, RAF, VR, DFM, missing over Germany June 21st/22nd 1944, aged 24 years. Safe in God's keeping." In fact his body was later found and identified. See Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Leslie Bernard Benson. Benson's Lancaster LL900 was shot down at night near Julich-Mersch in Germany.
