Grave of Josiah Stamp, his wife Olive Stamp, and their eldest son Wilfred Stamp, Beckenham Cemetery, London. The family were killed simultaneously by a direct hit from a German bomb on 16 April 1941. Owing to a legal fiction in English law regarding simultaneous deaths, the deaths were deemed to have taken place in order of the ages of the deceased; as a consequence Wilfrid Stamp was formally considered to have held his father's hereditary peerage for a fraction of a second, making him officially the shortest-serving parliamentarian in history.
