Gidzhak (Gizhzhak, Uzbek: G`ijjak, ғizhzhak) is a bowed string instrument of the peoples of Central Asia (Uzbeks, Uighurs, Tajiks, Turkmens), a closely related to the Persian Kemancha (English: Kamancheh). Spherical body of the instrument is made from a gourd, a large walnut, wood or other materials, and covered with a skin. The number of strings is often three, and each string is usually tuned with:

E-flat, A-flat (1st oct.), D-flat (2nd oct.)

The range of the instrument covers about one and a half octaves.

When playing gidzhak, it is kept upright and played with a bow. Modern gidzhak have four strings.
