The Ghana Maritime Authority is a body corporate of the government of Ghana which is reporting to the Ghanaian Ministry of Transport. The authority is established in 2002 by the Act 630 of the Ghanaian Parliament (Ghana Maritime Authority Act) with the order "...to ensure the provision of safe, secure and efficient shipping services and the protection of the marine environment from ship source pollution".
