Georges Stein was a French Impressionist painter who was born in Paris and is best known for scenes of Parisian street life. Birth and death dates vary in sources, possibly 1855-1930, 1870-1917 or 1870-1955. Georges Stein the illustrator appears in the Benezit Dictionary of Artists as born c.1870 and being a man. Some English-language art auction websites attribute a feminine gender to this painter, although the source for this attribution is unclear. This may or may not be the same person as sources conflict on all these details.
