Located at 31 East Gorham Street in Madison, Wisconsin, this house was built in 1850 in Greek Revival style and early on was the residence of George Memhard (see the Property Record online). It was renovated circa 1914 in Arts and Crafts / American Craftsman style and is presently utilized as an apartment building.
The house features a painted brick exterior, front gable roof with wooden brackets at the front gable, stone lintels and sills, Arts and Crafts-style double-hung windows, a front porch with brick columns, stucco cladding, shed roof, and stucco-clad low wall railings, a side entry vestibule with a gabled roof, decorative brackets, stucco cladding, brick piers, and sidelights flanking the door, and a stucco-clad base.
The house is a contributing structure in the Mansion Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
