Gallaecia or Callaecia was the name of the Roman province and early medieval kingdom in the north-west of Hispania (approximately present-day northern Portugal and Galicia (Spain), and León, Asturias. The most important cities were Bracara Augusta and Lucus Augusti, modern Braga and Lugo.
