GIP- 1 to 8 were the first eight locomotives that arrived from Vulcan Foundry in England, to run on the GIP Railway line, during its initial years. At least two locomotives of this class were used to pull the first train in India, that ran from Bombay's Bori Bunder station, to Tannah (now Thane) on 16th April 1853.
