The Rotary Friendship Bell at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. It was dedicated on April 7, 2008 by the Rotary Club of Shades Valley, Rotary Club of Osaka Central, and the Consul General of Japan, Mr. Shoji Ogawa. The bronze bell was cast in Japan and the belfry was designed in an authentic Japanese manner by a member of the Rotary Club of Osaka Central to fit into the Birmingham Botanical Gardens master plan for the Japanese Gardens. The gesture was intended to promote world peace, friendship, and understanding.
