Built in 1888 and renovated in 1892, this Queen Anne-style house at 121 East Gilman Street in Madison, Wisconsin, was designed by Conover and Porter for Fred Brown, and his wife, Annie Brown. It was renovated into apartments circa 1951, which it remains today. The house is clad in buff brick with a hipped roof with multiple gables with half-timbering and wooden shingles, a rusticated stone base, rusticated stone lintels and sills, brick corbeling at the chamfered corners of the two-story bay windows on the northeast facade, brick corbeling below the roofline, brick pilasters, one-over-one replacement windows, an enclosed sun porch with a low-slope hipped roof and front gable, stone trim, a two-story bay window on the southwest facade, and a series of rear ells with hipped and shed roofs.
The house is a contributing structure in the Mansion Hill Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
