English: Francisco Hernández de Córdoba (1470s - 1526) — Spanish Conquistador, considered the founder of Nicaragua.
- Founded two important Nicaraguan cities in 1524, Granada (La Gran Sultana) and León (León Santiago de los Caballeros).
- Executed as an insurrectionist and a traitor by the Viceroyalty of New Spain.
- The currency of Nicaragua is named the córdoba in his memory.
