Originally a partnership (1851 - 1853) between Francis Morton and his brother Henry, it split into H. J. Morton and Co of Leeds and Francis Morton & Co of Liverpool and Garston. All were involved in manufacturing metal goods, particularly at their foundries. Their products included bridges, buildings and their roofs, and parts of the Liverpool Overhead Railway.
