Notes:
- This church never had its own graveyard, due to damp ground.
- Between 1865 and 1866 and to the design of Harrogate architect Richard Dyson, the building was enlarged with a new chancel, the roof was replaced, and new fittings were added, including an encaustic tiled floor, new stained glass windows, new pulpit and font, etc. The font was by sculptor Major Cowling (and possibly the stone base of the pulpit also).
- The architect H. E. Bown added a raised roof to the building in 1874.
- The building was closed in 1903 due to structural defects. It was demolished in due course, and was replaced by a new St Mary's in a different location in 1916.
