English: Cable car #28 was built in 1887 as an open car for the Ferries and Cliff House Railway, running on the Sacramento Street line. It was at the western terminal in 1906 and escaped the fire after the earthquake. It was rebuilt then as a closed car, and several times after, the last in 1973. It was retired in 2000 and replaced with a new #28 in 2003. The old car was placed on static display; in 2018, it was sold to the Shore Line Trolley Museum in exchange for two ex-Red Arrow streetcars.
