English: A sculpture in granite begun in September 1977 by William deGarthe, consisting of 30 figures carved over six years with assistance from Rene Barrette, and for two years by resident Donald Crooks (1981-1983). He died in 1983, and the work and property were donated by his wife R. Agnes deGarthe to the Province of Nova Scotia in 1984. The woman holding the basket is 'Peggy'.
