What is now known as the Fisher Building at 115-119 S Jackson St. was constructed in several phases from 1898-1902, with architect William E. Boone being involved at least once. Originally two separate buildings, they were purchased from the estate of Rufus Smith for $30,000 in June 1929 by the Rautman Plumbing and Heating Company, one of Seattle's foremost plumbing firms who supplied the pipes and fixtures for many of the city's skyscrapers of the era. From late 1929 to early 1930 the two buildings were brought together under the current art deco façade, the architect of which is unknown. Rautman would occupy the western half of the building, leasing the other half to the Boyle-Dayton Company, distributors of fuel pumps and other service station equipment.
