First Independent Church, also known as the Brod Street Independent Church was built in 1831 at the northeast corner of Broad and Sansom streets in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, The church housed the independent congregation of Reverend John Chambers. April 1853, the church building was enlarged by an extension Eastward of 15 feet and the erection of a portico in front. The congregation was admitted to the Presbytery in 1873 and was called the later renamed Chambers Presbyterian Church or Broad Street Presbyterian Church. The building was demolished circa 1900 after it was sold to John Wanamaker; in its place was built the North American Building.
