English: The Fancy Dress Festival is an annual local masquerade festival in the areas around of the Ghanaian coastal town Winneba in the days around Christmas to begin of January every year. The event dates back to British and Dutch traders to the begin of the 19th century which celebrated Christmas by special events in white-owned bars with dance and drinking in combination with wearing assorted masks. Also after the retreat of the Europeans from Winnebah after the events of 1812 remained this tradition as cultural event at the native population in order to celebrate Christmas every year – and that until to today. The native name of this festival in Winneba is Kakamotobi.
