The Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) is a programme of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in order to protect children and pregnant women living in Ghana against vaccine preventable diseases. Diseases being vaccinated against include: tuberculosis, poliomyelitis, diphtheria, neonatal tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B, haemophilus influenza type B, measles and yellow fever. The EPI was established 1997 after the Ghana Heath Service was founded as public service body per law in 1996.
