English: Surviving ruins of the old church in Eskaheen which is assumed to be the site of an early ecclesiastical foundation. John Colgan names St. Colmcille as founder in his work Trias Thaumaturga but there are also suggestions that this could be a Patrician site. The church was in use until the end of the 17th century. Just a section of the south wall and of the west gable have survived. See p. 384 in Gwynn and Hadcock: Medieval Religious Houses Ireland, and entry 1550 on p. 265 in Brian Lacy: Archaeological Survey of County Donegal, ISBN 0-9508407-0-X.
