English: The Elsecar Engine is a Newcomen beam engine. It is one of the oldest surviving beam engines, one of very few surviving Newcomen engines, and the oldest beam engine still on its original site. It was built in 1795 as a pumping engine for Elsecar Colliery, at Elsecar, South Yorkshire. It remained in service until 1923. It is now part of the Elsecar Heritage Centre.
