Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

[edit]- On a red octagon 2¼ inches in width and height with each side 1 inch in length, a white cross pattee throughout saltirewise with rounded corners, all within a ⅛ inch red border. The overall dimensions are 2⅜ inches in width and height.
- COMBAT SERVICE IDENTIFICATION BADGE: A silver color metal and enamel device 2 inches (5.08 cm) in height consisting of a design similar to the shoulder sleeve insignia.
Symbolism
[edit]- Red and white are the colors used to distinguish the flags of Armies.
- The white cross pattee divides the octagon into eight areas representing the numerical designation of the Army.

[edit]- A silver color metal and enamel device 1 3/16 inches in height overall consisting of a rectangular shield divided per fess argent and red arched at top and bottom superimposed by the organizational shoulder sleeve insignia (on a red octagon a white cross pattee throughout saltirewise). All above a silver motto scroll doubled and lined scarlet and inscribed "PACIFIC VICTORS" in scarlet letters.
Symbolism
[edit]- The basic design was suggested by the authorized shoulder sleeve insignia for the Eighth United States Army.
- The shield is divided horizontally white and scarlet in the same pattern as the flags for United States Armies.
- The motto "Pacific Victors" alludes to the Eighth Army's campaigns and operations in the Pacific Area, and service during World War II and the Korean War.

- Hoist: Three Feet.
- Fly: Four Feet.
- Fringe: 2½”
- b. Design: The flag consists of two horizontal stripes of equal width, Fringed. Centered is the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, with Piping.
- c. Colors
- Top Stripe: White
- Bottom Stripe: Red
- Insignia: Shoulder Sleeve Insignia; centered; proper; 15 inches high.
- Piping: Countercharged of the Stripe Colors.
- Fringe: Golden Yellow.
- d. Details
- Flags are alike on both sides. Design elements appear on both sides as if printed through the material except as stated in 2 and 3 below.
- Letters and numerals will read from left to right on both sides.
- When a shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) design is used on a flag, the SSI design must appear proper on both sides.
- e. Materials
- Flags designed primarily for indoor and parade display will normally be made of banner rayon or heavyweight nylon with rayon fringe.
- Flags designed primarily for outdoor display will be made of nylon-wool or heavyweight nylon without fringe.
