English: Egerton is a small village of the unparished area of South Turton, in the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton, Greater Manchester, England. Historically part of Lancashire, it is situated three miles north of Bolton and 12 miles north west of Manchester City Centre. The village takes its name from the former landlord of the area, Sir Thomas Egerton, Baronet. It was developed in the 1830s when John and Edmund Ashworth set up their cotton mills.
