English: Edo komon are kimono with a miniature-scale, evenly repeating pattern that is usually stencil dyed, but could also be dyed in the thread or even hand-dyed. Due to the impression of solid colour from a distance, it is considered much closer in formality to a solid-colour iromuji than other types of komon. A finer pattern ranks above a larger one, and hand-dyed items rank over others. It is named after Edo, where it became very fashionable.
