This was the first DC-6, built as the prototype Douglas XC-112A which first flew on 15 February 1946 as 45-0873, converted to DC-6 standard in 1956. It crashed on 8 February 1976 near Van Nuys, CA, caused by dual engine failure after takeoff from Burbank airport.
TASSA had leased it from 1963 to 1965.
