The bridge was part of Leipzig Hbf–Leipzig-Connewitz railway line (LC/6361) incepted in 1878. Built in 1904 the bridge was dismantled 2019, about seven years after the railway line closed.

The unused slots on the eastern side of the bridge abutments were built on reserve, with its construction as part of a general overhaul of Leipzigs railway hub in the years after 1900. Consequently, other structures of the line between Stötteritz and street Zweinaundorfer Straße had the same property. Initially carried out to save time on eventual track capacity expansion, the slots have never been used. On 24th of November 2012 the line with the federal reference 6361 (saxon reference LC) was closed down and the parts north of Leipzig-Stötteritz subsequently dismantled thereafter.
