The Dutch pattern, Netherland pattern or Cartes Royale of French-suited playing cards was originally manufactured in Belgium, not the Netherlands. The modern version was adopted as a national pattern after 1969 along with the Berlin and Dondorf Rhineland patterns. It is descended ffrom the XP2 pattern and its distinctive feature is the Queens which "lack almost all traces of their traditional flowers." The name preferred by the IPCS is the Dutch pattern.
