Water quality in Downfall Creek can deteriorate suddenly if material washes down storm water drains or sewage spills occur. Heavy rain can turn the water black, due to extreme levels of dust sized particles derived from vehicle tyres. Rain flushes these micro-particles off the roads and into the storm water system, which discharges directly into Downfall Creek.
