Decking screws, drywall screws or adjustment screws
These have two sections of thread, one at the point and one under the head. They are used to join two pieces of timber with the second thread providing a positive axial location, even when the two pieces are not touching. This allows the spacing between the two timber pieces to be adjusted, such as when levelling drywall battens. It can also be used to retain decking and prevent loose boards, even with the extremes of moisture shrinkage.
