The Dorgi is a cross between a Dachshund and a Welsh Corgi Pembroke or Cardigan Welsh Corgi. They can take on the characteristics of either breed. Often the 1st generation Dorgi pup is raised and then back-bred with a full-blooded breed of its ancestry, either Daschund or Corgi. This is repeated for as many generations as the breeder prefers, each generation bringing the dog closer to its original breed. This can result in Dorgis who favor the characteristics heavily of one breed or the other.
