English: The Dorchester Heights Monument is located on Telegraph Hill in South Boston (not Dorchester; Dorchester Heights takes its name from Dorchester Neck, a peninsula east of Dorchester). It commemorates the Continental Army staging cannons (from Henry Knox's Fort Ticonderoga Expedition) on the hill in March 1776, which led the British army occupying Boston to depart end end the Siege of Boston. The Dorchester Heights Monument is part of Boston National Historical Park, managed by the National Park Service.
