English: Donore is a small village in Co. Meath, Rep. of Ireland, near Drogheda. It is situated in the Boyne Valley on the route between Drogheda and the Bru na Boinne interpretive centre which is the point of access to Newgrange. The village has undergone expansion during the past number of years as a result of its location near the recent extension of the M1 motorway. During the late 17th Century, the village was used as a defensive position by the Jacobite army of King James II against King William III during the Battle of the Boyne 1690.
