Dominique La Plante, also known as Chief Thunder Cloud, was an artist's model and crafts dealer. He was raised in Quebec on the Kahnawake reserve, near Montreal, and is listed as a voyageur in one Canadian census.
Period biographies claimed that he created a touring show acquired by the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show, but William Hickock's surviving records do not provide evidence of this.
