The Dhumnath temple is a restored temple in Deokirari that extensively reuses parts of a lost 11th-century to 12th century Hindu temple in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh. It stands south of a large historic manmade reservoir. The jagati, the lower section and panels used in the outer and inner walls of the temple are historic Hindu artwork. However, some panels such as multiple copies of river goddesses are odd. It is likely these are recovered sacred artwork from lost Hindu temples nearby. Unfortunately, some of the artwork is coated with a thick layer of plaster, lime or paint – making iconographic analysis and dating of those panels difficult.
