Daniel Piatt (1745-1780) was born at Six Mile Run, Middlesex County, New Jersey in December of 1745. He married Catherine Sherred in 1765. He served in the American Revolutionary War with a rank of Captain starting on December 16, 1775. He served with the 7th Company of the 1st Regiment of the New Jersey Line. He was with General Washington at Valley Forge. He was promoted to the rank of Major on January 4, 1778. He died while in service to his country at Jockey Hollow, Morristown, New Jersey on April 16, 1780.
