Introduced 1939 following the prototype's good performance in the Monte Carlo Rally. The engine was fitted with a special head with inclined valves using special metals and repositioned spark plugs and twin carburetters. Cylinders were given individual exhaust ports and and separate exhaust downpipes provided for cylinders 1:3 and 4:6. The compression ratio was increased from 5.5:1 to 7:1.
An external bulge covered the extra carburetter.

Power output improved more than 36% from 64 bhp to about 90 bhp.

Gear ratios were re-arranged to give an overdrive top gear.

Daimler's catalogued bodies were made by Charlesworth and were open four-door four-seater cars. At least one special closed car was made by Charlesworth.

This car became (the basis of) the post-war Special Sports
