English: Cyrus Durand (1787–1868), American inventor and engraver, the brother of Asher Brown Durand (1796-1886). He invented machines for the mechanical drawing of lines during currency engraving. In 1824-1832, the Durands went into bank note engraving business under the firms A. B. & C. Durand & Co. (1824), A. B. & C. Durand, Wright & Co. (1826-1827), and Durand, Perkins & Co. (1828-1831).
