Cymbeline is a play by William Shakespeare about the mythological king whose personality probably derives from that of British chieftain Cunobelinus, who is thought to have risen to power around the year 9 A.D. It was first published in the First Folio collection of Shakespeare's plays in 1623, several years after Shakespeare's death. It was originally published as one of the tragedies, but is now generally classified as a Romance.
