English: Imperial couple as Mars and Venus. 120-140 AC, reworked in 170-175. The god Mars has the face of the emperor Hadrien. The goddess Venus has the gesture of Venus of Capua by giving to the god his sword harness. Her head has been replaced later to represent the empress Lucilla (wife of Lucius Verus 161-169 AC). Former Borghese collection : bought in 1807. MR 316. Ma 1009.
Français : Couple impérial en Mars et Vénus. 120-140 ap. J.-C., repris en 170-175. Le dieu Mars a les traits de l'empereur Hadrien. La déesse Venus est dans la position de la Venus de Capoue en revêtant le dieu de son baudrier. Sa tête a été changée ultérieurement pour représenter l'impératrice Lucile (femme de Lucius Verus 161-169 ap. J.-C.). Ancienne collection Borghèse : achat 1807. MR 316. Ma 1009.
