Category:Connaught Institute, Brighton
The Connaught Institute (latterly Connaught Christian Fellowship) was a place of worship and community building in Brighton, England. It was built in 1897 as an institute for soldiers, particularly from the nearby Preston Barracks, and manual workers; facilities included a library, surgery, worship space, educational facilities and bar. It was later used as an Anglican mission hall and an Evangelical church known as The Connaught Mission and led by the Revd Andrew Barker in the seventies, but became derelict by 2003. It was mostly demolished in 2010, and the site was eventually cleared for housing. It faced, and had entrances in, Lewes Road (a main road) and Melbourne Street (a side street).
