The Colossus of Naxians comes from the 1st half of the 6th century BC, various sources indicate his height to 11-15 meters. He stood before "The Oikos of Naxians" on Delos, where he still remains a great base of the statue. So it was one of the largest statues of Greek archaic period, and in terms of sculptures from a single piece of transferred stone is one of the largest sculptures ever. To some colossal statue damage had already occurred in the classical period , according to Plutarch , in 417 BC, but then it swiftly repaired and draw on the banner. Later, all dilapidated, 1673 S. de Vries drew the ruins of Delos, the remnants of archaic colossal statues already in two large pieces. Before archaeologists came, he could still come kouros head and thigh. Currently, these two components is close to the Temple of Artemis, hand fragment is in the museum (on Delos), while the foot is in the British Museum.
