A memorial to a Pittsburgh native who was a Pennsylvania state senator and an officer in the Spanish-American War and the ensuing Philippine insurrection. Col. Hawkins died in 1899; the memorial was put up in 1904 near the south end of the Panther Hollow Bridge in Schenley Park, Pittsburgh.
